Children’s Ministry
Summit Woods is dedicated to educating our children in the purpose of Exalting the King and Extending the Kingdom.
Sunday Events
Children’s Sunday school meets from 9:15 to 10:15am, during the our Adult Bible Fellowship hour. This is an exciting time for children to participate in small group Bible study. Our teachers love God and the opportunity to share God’s Word with children.
Our worship service begins as 10:30am. Preschoolers and young children begin the service with their families in the main sanctuary. At approximately 11:00am, children are dismissed for Preschool Church (2 years to pre-K) and Children’s Church (grades K-3). During this time children are taught to worship God by caring and loving teachers, in a very interactive environment.
Wednesday Events
AWANA meets from 6:30 to 8:00pm on Wednesday evenings, throughout the school year. AWANA is an exciting time of fun for the kids, centered on the Word of God.

Student Ministry

Bible study for our students on Sunday mornings is foundational. Get connected to a small group as we dig into God’s Word with the student in mind (Sunday mornings at 9:15am).
Wednesday evenings we meet in the Student Center at 6:30pm. The student band leads the time of worship following by a time of Bible study, and often a fun activity.
Our students are always raising money for retreats and camps. If you have projects or cleaning that you would like help with, you may rent our students. Please call the church office if you have work for them to do.
Singles and Young Adults (Launch)
Launch is a ministry dedicated to 18-to-29 year old singles and couples where young adults are equipped to live out their faith, exalt the true and living God, encourage community among believers, and extend the gospel message of hope.
Launch meets during the Adult Bible Fellowship hour on Sunday morning (9:15 to 10:15am) and Thursday evenings (at 7pm), and is geared for Biblical fellowship, worship, and discipleship.

Men’s Ministry
It is a given that men are achievers; they pursue and accomplish their goals in life. The question for the man of God is, Are they the right goals? The purpose of our Full Throttle Men’s Ministry at Summit Woods is to help men understand the right goals as identified in God’s Word and to accomplish them for God’s glory. This begins with a man’s personal journey with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. It is a journey that guides the man of God in his home, church, workplace, community and world. This is best expressed in Colossians 1:28: …that we may present every man complete in Christ.
A Note from Our Leader
We call ourselves Full Throttle because we are serious about our relationship with the Lord and our fellow brothers in our men’s group. We want to go full throttle ahead in being the husbands, fathers, grandfathers and leaders in our families and in our church. We believe the Bible, for it is the perfect word of God. Proverbs 27:17 says, ‘Iron sharpens iron as one man sharpens another,’ and we do that twice weekly when we meet together to read His Word, share our experiences, encourage each other and pray for one another. We also love serving together by putting on roofs, cleaning up yards, landscaping, painting, moving and doing anything we can to help those in need (see James 1:27). We have teams of men going out every Monday night to visit those who have visited our church, are sick or have asked to be prayed for. We have teams that go to festivals, concerts and bus stations to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. We invite all men to join us and be part of a great group of guys who love the Lord, love each other and have a great time learning to be more like Him.
Refueling Stops
Refueling stops are our main men’s ministry meetings. The Wednesday night group meets at 6:30pm and the Friday morning group meets at 6:30am. We gather to study God’s Word, pray together and encourage one another to live for God in every area of life. If you want to jump into the Men’s Ministry, this is the place to start!
Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Ministry at Summit Woods is committed to the discipleship of women into a deeper relationship with God, their families and one another by providing avenues for spiritual growth and support.

Music Ministry
Psalm 150 — Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
The music ministry of Summit Woods has at its core the desire to exalt The King through singing, playing of instruments, and the reading of God’s Word. Therefore, the music chosen for worship is doctrinally sound, theologically rich, Christ exalting, and Cross centered.
The Sanctuary Choir provides leadership in our worship services and many other special services throughout the year. There are many opportunities for growth, fellowship, and praise. Choir meets for rehearsal on Wednesday evenings at 7:45pm and provides guidance in the worship services on Sunday mornings at 10:30am.
The Instrumental Worship Team is comprised of guitars, keyboards, percussion, and assorted string and orchestra instruments. If interested in participating in the instrumental ensemble please contact Dawson Bryant. The Music Ministry Application also contains information for instrumentalists and vocalists interested in presenting special music in the worship services.

Evangelism & Discipleship
The evangelism and discipleship ministries of Summit Woods exist to help believers fulfill Christ’s Great Commission (Matthew 28: 18-20). Christ has enabled us, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to proclaim His good news to the world, and has called on the body to walk with one another for the purpose of discipleship. Each arm of this ministry provides opportunities for the body of Christ, the church, to be equipped and sent for this task.
Street Evangelism Team
Our street evangelism team would like to invite you to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost on the streets of Kansas City. The team distributes tracts and engages in one-on-one conversations using the law to the proud and grace to the humble, as seen in scripture. The team goes out most weekends to places like the Power and Light District of downtown Kansas City, Sprint Center, and various events around town. The group also provides evangelism training.
Door to Door Witnessing
With a heart for our local community, this group meets on Saturday mornings to seek out the spiritual and physical needs of those in Lee’s Summit. Each visit provides unique opportunities to pray, witness, and encourage the city through prayer and the gospel.
Cookie Visits
We strive to personally thank each visitor of SWBC by bringing cookies, answering questions about the church, praying for their concerns, and seeking opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ. If you are interested in joining this ministry please contact your outreach coordinator for your Adult Bible Fellowship class or the church office.
Personal Discipleship
